Zoneguard® Redirects Out-of-Control Dump Truck, Protecting Indiana Work Crew

During a bridge deck overlay project on County Road 28 over Interstate 69 near Fort Wayne, Indiana, a fully loaded dump truck weighing approximately 60,000-70,000 pounds lost control and headed toward a work zone where Pioneer Associates Inc. employees were positioned only feet behind a Zoneguard® temporary barrier. The barrier safely redirected the truck onto the shoulder while remaining largely intact and positioned between the workers and active traffic. Because Zoneguard® was installed using its Minimum Deflection System configuration, movement at the point of impact was limited to only inches. Pioneer Associates Project Manager Aaron Jones credited the system with saving at least two lives and preventing a serious injury.
