INTRODUCING CHIARA DOBROVOLNY, THE NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING
Hill & Smith Inc. very proudly announces the hiring of Chiara Dobrovolny as the new Vice President of Engineering. Chiara comes to Hill & Smith Inc. with extensive experience in evaluating roadside safety devices, including guardrails, median barriers, guardrail/bridge rail transitions, and breakaway sign supports, and the development of guidelines for their use. She brings exceptional knowledge, expertise & leadership to Hill & Smith Inc. with her experience and passion for highway safety and new product development.

As a former research scientist at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Chiara directed research for various state departments of transportation (DOTs), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Roadside Safety Pooled Fund, and University Transportation Centers (UTCs). Her leadership of the MASH Coordination Effort project, which aimed to coordinate information and testing activities related to the MASH implementation program, demonstrates her dedication to safety and innovation.
She has evaluated numerous roadside safety devices and developed guidelines for their use, co-authoring over 50 publications and presentations. Her expertise in highway safety, computer modeling and simulation, finite element modeling, and roadside safety devices will serve as a guide for continued enhancement and development of leading barrier products such as Zoneguard® and Smart Cushion®. Furthermore, as highway safety technology continues to change, Chiara’s skillset and industry knowledge will help lead an engineering team in the development of new Work Zone, ITS, and Roadside Safety products.
